I reallllyy struggled last year whilst pregnant. Vaseline around your nose catches the pollen. Sunglasses are great for protecting your eyes if you get itchy eyes. I also spent a fortune on different local honeys and had a spoonful of each everyday as it is meant to expose you to the local pollens. I did also take antihistamines some days. As the pharmacist says there’s no testing done during pregnancy - that doesn’t mean it is unsafe it just means it is unethical to knowingly include pregnant women in clinical trials

You could try the hay-fever wipes

Loratadine is considered safe in pregnancy

So my pharmacy said the same thing I called my midwife as it’s killing me she asked if I was over 20 weeks then told me piriton is absolutely fine and I have been taking it since xx

I was told by my GP that over the counter piriton will be okay, due to them being on the market for so long and overall would have been routinely used. BUT with that I will say like Naomi said, there’s not been any testing on any. I’ve JUST started having my flare ups and I’m going to try and ride it out and long as possible. I also get prescribed a nasal spray and eye drops, which in very worse ways I will be using to limit the symptoms. As I read that very little of nasal spray/eye drops get into the blood stream so that’s my personal choice. Hope you don’t suffer too bad girl ! Xx

Last year my hay-fever was the worse. I smothered my nose with vaseline and then during the day used the hay-fever wipes to wipe it away a re apply. Wasn't the best, but for nothing able to take, it was the best o could do x

There has been testing. I've been looking it up. Loratidine and Certrizine are found to be safe for unborn, over the counter Piriton which js cloraphenamine has also been found to be safe. That's what I've picked up for use when it's really bad. There's a study I found and it's also written on the NHS website. Acrivastine which is what is in Benedryl (active in 15 minutes one) has NOT been tested. Fenofexadine which is in Allevia and Treathay is a DO NOT TAKE as it's been shown to be linked reduced fetal growth in animals. If you're in your first trimester I would avoid them but second you're certainly ok with Loratidine and Certrizine.

My gp and midwifes said safe to take loratadine Hayfever tablets which is what quite a few are. I tried taking only when really needed and doing the same now while BF my littleone.
