IUD’s

Alright yall. Those of you that have/had IUD’s how bad was getting it inserted? According to my L&D nurses I have a super strong pain tolerance, it’s just my anxiety that trips me up. I got the foley balloon and I didnt think that hurt at all so I’m wondering if I’d do okay with the IUD but idk if thats comparable. I just know I have to get on some sort of birth control because an “oops” pregnancy right now is terrifying 😂

I haven't had a foley, but I'd guess it is pretty comparable, since they are both dilating your cervix. For my IUD I took a couple of ibuprofen and a deep breath and it was fine. The cramping for the next day was about the same as my painful period cramps. 100% would do it again.

@Laura that makes me feel better!! Thank you!

Hi, I was on an IUD birth control before I had my daughter and when I got it the best way I can explain it. It feels like a quick internal pinch to me. That’s what it felt like I’m doing another one in about a week and a half at my eight week check up, I don’t think it hurts very much. Definitely just takes some ibuprofen before hand and then real deep breath when they put it in.

The pain is tolerable . I’ve been known to have a high pain tolerance as well but it’s like a big period cramp . The cramping lasted a few hours afterward for me

Thanks for easing my mind yall!

The foley balloon was the worst part of labor for me and I had two second degree tears 😭

@Gwenda omg! Idk why but I didnt think it hurt at all!

The first one I had (long before my first baby) hurt some. But after birth, your cervix stays dilated for weeks. I’ve had one put in after each of my two births (6-8 weeks after) and those didn’t hurt at all. It was more comfortable than a cervical check 😂

It didn’t hurt too much. I got it 8 weeks PP. it was like a pinch. After that I got a little cramping but nothing too bad
