IUD anyone? Please 🙏🏼

I just had baby number 2 six weeks ago. Went to my six week check up today and spoke to my doctor about birth control options. I am very seriously considering the IUD, but have two sisters who have had completely different experiences with them. One sister said it was about the same amount of pain as when you have a painful Pap smear and then light cramping throughout the rest of the day. The other sister said it was one of the most painful things she’s ever had done and then struggled with intense cramping and very heavy periods for six months before it got better. What has your experience with them been?

i’m just like you after my second kid I got an IUD and it was very painful for me. I’ve had my IUD for three months now and my bleeding is just now lightning up, but you bleed for a while after you get it a lot more now with the IUD,

I just had my 3rd baby and I’m one month pp. I got the paraguard IUD which is non hormonal and can be used as a emergency contraception immediately after put in. I had my first period already and had minimal cramping. No heavy bleeding just uncomfortable cramps

I had an iud for 7 months the bleeding never stopped I had to get it removed, but the pain of having it put in was probably a 4/10

Both times i’ve had it it’s been great. The first time was before kids and nothing had gone up the cervix so it hurt a bit. This time after a vaginal birth and second pregnancy it was such a breeze I didn’t even know she had done it. And it’s been completely fine after

I got the copper (non hormonal) IUD after my first baby and I didn’t feel a thing. Obviously everyone’s experience is different but i definitely scared myself because I was terrified it was going to be painful. I bled for maybe a week and had irregular period for about 6 months!

After I had baby number 3 in march I got the IUD right after having her. It fell out.

It was very painful to get the IUD, and I had cramping all day, but then I didn’t have any bleeding! I’ve had an IUD 3 times now (getting a fourth soon, I’m 4 weeks PP), and I didn’t have a period on it. I had Mirena and I always recommend it

I have had the Mirena IUD slight pain and discomfort when put in and taken out I was not fond of my mood swings with the hormones so I ended up having the paraguard copper IUD put in again slight pain discomfort had it in for about 7 years worked great until I ended up pregnant now a happy healthy 18 month old really wanted to again have a non hormone BC so thinking whats the odds of getting pregnant again with an IUD I went for the paraguard again at my 6 weeks check appointment all went well was no pain at all even had an ultrasound to make sure it was properly placed well 18 months and I maybe pregnant with paraguard baby #2

I got an IUD after I gave birth to my daughter about 18 months ago. I decided on the IUD because of breastfeeding and being unable to take hormonal birth control pills. getting it inserted felt like strong period cramps. Took some Advil when I got home and it was fine after a couple of hours. But my periods are insanely heavy because of it. It’s been successful in not getting pregnant, but my periods are really tough. If you’re BF, it’s definitely worth it. Once I stop breastfeeding I’m most definitely getting it taken out and opting for the pill.
