IUD

Hello! Currently due my second baby in December and already thinking about contraception for once baby is here. Wanted to know how everyone’s experience was who has had a coil/ iud. I’ve been told it’s the only birth control which doesn’t change hormones however have heard some negative things as well so just wanted to get some ideas.

I won't lie - the insertion hurts. A lot. But if you have a good doctor, it is only a few short minutes. I had my first one for 5 years - no hormone issues, no weight change, and no periods. I had my second one removed after a few years and was pregnant the next month. At least for me, things went back to normal quickly.

Loved my iud when I had one. Was quick to get it done and my periods were very light. Got it removed and my periods went back to normal as well. Honestly would do an iud again if I got back to birth control but hubby and I are thinking about more kids lol

I had the copper coil put in on Friday (I wanted non hormal because I’ve had issues with my weight) and it was honestly fine! Just felt like a speculum and I didn’t feel anything else. I’ve not noticed any changes since and it’s been fine!😊

I just got my second iud put in 6 weeks ago. Ask your Dr about prescribing you misoprostol to take the night before and the morning of, it made a world of difference from my first one I got put in
