Looking for period experiences

This might get a bit long, so here's a tldr: what, if anything, helped regulate your cycle? I had my third child via c-section in January 2022. This was my third c-section and I had a tubal at the same time. My period returned around October 2022 when I stopped breastfeeding. My period has always been heavy and lasts a full week. However I started having two full periods every month. After a few months of that I went to see my gyn. His suggestion was birth control, which I didn't really want to do. I don't really need it as I had the tubal and my husband also had a vasectomy. I also know it's not good to take long term and I took it for most of my 20s. I told my dr let's wait and see because I had my yearly coming up (May 2023). Yearly exam rolls around and still having the same issues so I agree to birth control but I tell him I don't want to be on it longer than a year. So it's been about a year now. The birth control seemed to stop the two periods a month but they've still been irregular and there were a couple months I just didn't have a period. I just stopped taking the birth control because I didn't have any refills and had to push my yearly exam back to June. I wanted to stop anyway. It's been about two weeks since I stopped and I've been bleeding on and off since then. I just don't know what to do anymore. Any advice is welcome.

Did you have any other issues with bleeding before all of this? I noticed you said your periods were heavy and a full week before xxx

@Louise yeah, but it's been that way since I started having my period way back when. That's how my mom and grandma were so I assumed it was normal for me.

Apparently it’s normal to have it for like 4days I guess not a full 7days… I totally just found this out. You could try the IUD if you wanted to… it could make them lighter, and maybe once a month and or it could stop altogether (just another suggestion instead of pills). I would then ask your doctor about other options? After my last baby who is 2.5now… I get mine for a week too, but mine was doing the same then it would balance out.. but I never start on the same day of every month for more than like 2 periods then it changes again… it’s weird I need to make an appointment haha 🤣. I hope you get this figured out!

@Rachel and do you have any other issues with bleeding, like being quick to bleeding, or bleed a bit more than others around you? Nose bleeds, bleeding gums etc? Xxx

@Louise no issues with bleeding in general that I've noticed.

Raspberry leaf tea supports your reproductive health no matter what stage of life (no, it doesn't induce labor like some say, it just supports your uterus in preparing for labor..) Chasteberry/Vitex helps regulate a healthy cycle as well but it also helps with conception and implantation (but you should be safe after your tubal and his vasectomy) my last recommendation is: https://birthjunkie.com/female-corrective-formula/ I have not personally used the corrective formula, but I swear by their Antenatal Formula and have used it in all 3 of my homebirths.

@Sarah thank you for the suggestions 😊. I will check them out!
