Letrozole and FET

Has anyone tried the letrozole protocol for a FET rather than estrogen and progesterone?

Yes me! I did it for my 2nd FET which was a success (my 1st was a successful natural cycle but I had a steady 28-29 day cycle then). Currently 22 weeks! I did Letrozole and also a trigger shot for this modified natural FET.

@Hope would you recommend it? How does it work, you start letrozole instead of estrogen and then move onto progesterone,

I was on Letrozole D3 of cycle for 5 days. Then ultrasound scan of lining and follicles for the best time to trigger. FET after trigger. Then progesterone after FET. I didn’t really need the progesterone because I have naturally high progesterone. But my 2nd clinic was adamant to use it for a little while.

@Hope can I ask why you did this protocol instead of the hrt protocol (oestrogen followed my trigger and progesterone)

My period the 2nd time was only slightly over the ideal cycle length. So they recommended Letrozole to shorten the cycle length. My doctor at the 1st clinic, for my 1st successful, natural FET, said Letrozole had a slightly improved chance of implantation in studies (which I did find later). I know some clinics just prefer the oestrogen method but there are more studies now saying Letrozole with trigger and progesterone work even better. Ultimately, it just comes down to what your doctor recommends (from the studies they read).

@Hope Hey hope, When you did your letrozole protocol for your FET we’re you also given oestrogen along side it? X

No estrogen added for me. But I don’t have lining or progesterone problems. From memory estrogen helps with lining?
