Cyclogest pessaries before positive test?

Hi everyone, really pleased to have found this group as I’m not sure what to do. Sorry for the long post! I went to see a private consultant last month as I can claim back via a cash plan at my work (I had seen her a few years ago about endometriosis and she said come back to her if I need help with pregnancy). I had a missed miscarriage last year which took over 2 months to sort out. She suggested that I take Cyclogest pessaries 2x a day and 75mg aspirin for my next pregnancy. I wasn’t sure if she said to start taking them after ovulation (which was 11th May) or once I got a positive test. I emailed her yesterday and she said I could start taking both now so I started last night. This morning my bbt dipped quite significantly making me think it’s likely I’m not pregnant. Will see what happens with that over the next couple of days. I’ve read that Cyclogest can potentially delay your period. Should I stop taking it so that my period comes as normal on Friday/Saturday and my cycle can resume as normal, or shall I carry on in case I am pregnant? I think it’s more common to be told to start taking them once you have a positive test so just wanted to get your thoughts! My main concern is messing up my cycle if I’m not pregnant and delaying trying to conceive next time. Thanks if you’ve got this far and any advice would be great ☺️

I was previously taking them after ovulation either 3/4 days after you ovulate for 14 days. Don't stop taking them until your a few days past when yoir period would normally come and to make sure your definitely not pregnant with negative tests. It actually helped regulate my cycle as i had short lp and was ovulating too late in short cycles and the pessaries helped me ovulate earlier in my cycle after taking them. Good luck x

@Jemma-Lee thank you so much for that, really helpful. Did you carry on taking them after 14 days or stop? My prescription is 6 weeks to start with x

Yes i took them every month for a few years when trying naturally. I'm now pregnant from IVF and took them until 16 weeks of pregnancy x

Ahh ok thank you. That’s wonderful news, congratulations!! X

Thank you 🥰🌈🙏

I had these pessaries too alongside aspirin but was told to wait to start until I was 6 weeks pregnant. I was told to carry on to 36 weeks then if I had a successful pregnancy with both the pessaries twice a day and aspirin once. So completely different advice, that was just from the consultant at the EPU. This is after having had 4 consecutive miscarriages, two of which took till 12 weeks to completely end having started bleeding at 6 weeks so I’m not sure if it is different advice depending on your circumstances. Good luck!

Thanks @Lou that’s also really helpful and I guess just shows that there’s so much different advice out there! I’ve been reading so much differing info online but I contacted my consultant and she said to continue taking them, so I have done for now and will see how things go. So sorry to hear about your miscarriages, that sounds really tough x

@Rosie yes, I think there’s so much out there but following your consultant is always best, fingers crossed for you now. Thank you. It was so tough but I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant after those so there is hope 🥰

@Lou thank you ☺️ Aww wow that’s brilliant! Congratulations! Your little summer baby on the way ☺️☀️

My doctor told me to take them a couple days after ovulation. First cycle taking them I continued until my period was due and took a pregnancy test and since it was negative I stopped and my period came 3-4 days after stopping. I did the same thing the following cycle and I ended up being pregnant so I had to continue until 12 weeks :) I always ovulated late usually cycle day 17-20 but the cycle after using the progesterone I actually ended up ovulating on cycle day 14-15! I’m not sure if it’s what cause my ovulation to change but it was a nice surprise! I’ve had multiple miscarriages so I truly believe progesterone is the reason I’m having a successful pregnancy
