Blood thinners

Did anyone stop taking their blood thinner injections early? I have to do 2x a day for 6 weeks, I’ve been doing them 18 days so far and I couldn’t bring myself to do it this morning and just going to stop doing them. It’s really bringing me down doing them and I’m struggling.

I had to do mine for 10 days and stopped 2 days before xx

I’ve had to do them all throughout both pregnancies and the 6 weeks after my first + will be 6 weeks after this one as well. I got to a point last time where the needle simply wouldn’t go in anymore. This time I’ve gotten there even earlier - my lower belly is so bruised up if I do it there it bleeds a ton, but if I do it any higher it’s too painful to inject. Last time I just stopped after the baby got here and made sure I was wearing my compression socks + keeping active 😬

I didn't have to do those after leaving the hospital, but I did have GD so I understand how painful and frustrating it is to prick yourself every day. I'd say, keep at it or at least tell your doctor to see if you can switch to an oral blood thinner. It'd be a shame to stop and then you have a TIA or stroke or anything else.

I was supposed to. I managed to do just over 4 weeks. Then I ran out of room on my legs that weren’t covered in bruises so gave up! X

@Shay it’s a bit different unfortunately (I have blood cancer and also have to do chemotherapy injections at home) - not sure why but the needles on these blood thinning injections are absolutely huge! 😔 Agree with the oral part. I’m also required to take aspirin daily and kept that up even when stopping the injections

@Allie oh wow! I remember taking them in the hospital and I hated them. My heart goes out to you ladies.

My stomach is just full of bruises and is super sore anyway from the c section. I don’t want to stop them but I can’t cope with the needles anymore, I have a phobia of them and anywhere I’m attempting to inject is so sore, I just physically can’t do it anymore

Ah I had to do them for both of mine and I used to freak out so much and cry. In the UK you can do them in the stomach or your thigh. Bruising was minimal on my thighs. Also do you do the pinch, poke, Inject, remove, unpinch? This also helps

Can your partner or someone else do the back of your arm for you? I know when I was in the hospital, I told them to do it there.

I had PE at 8 weeks , it was the scariest time ever, I’ve been on blood thinners for 3 weeks now and I just cannot bear to inject myself twice a day so my get my partner or mum in law to do it ! I used to have then in my thigh but they hurt so much so moved to my stomach and I’m absolutely sick of it and just feel sore on my belly . I really hate them and they are depressing me ! I don’t even know if I’m to have them throughout the pregnancy or stop earlier . I’d prefer a natural route to thin blood and prevent blood clots !
