I’ve taken sumatriptan since I was 12. I’ve always suffered from insane migraines, especially while pregnant. With my son, it was so bad to the point I couldn’t even move my head without wanting to puke from the pain. It is one of the safest migraine medications you can take while pregnant. I went to school for pharmacy, and also work in a pharmacy and every pharmacist I’ve ever talked to, along with the OB doctors in my hospital, recommend it. It will make you sleepy, I usually take it and then take a nap. By the time you wake up, it will be gone!

@Shay it takes roughly, 20-30 minutes for it to kick in. But if you had the migraine for a few days, it will take longer. You are usually supposed to take it as soon as your migraine starts to show symptoms. It could possibly take up to an hour, or it might not work the first time. My doctor always told me, if it didn’t start to work within 2 hours, to take another one.

Have you tried magnesium gummies for the headache?

@Megan yes it didn’t touch it but this medicine seems to be doing good

@Caitlin yes apparently constipation can cause vaginal bleeding and having a synchronic hematoma I guess can cause u stop or bleed

@Shay Sorry to jump on an old post. Just wondering did you take the sumatriptan and everything turn out ok? Just been prescribed it today as I’ve had a migraine for almost 2 weeks now

@Kirsty I took it multiple times while pregnant with my son (I’ve suffered from chronic migraines my whole life) and everything was fine. Imitrex is one of the safest meds you can take for a migraine while pregnant.
