Do You Have Restless Legs? 🩷

Information from Newson Health on Restless Legs Syndrome - a surprisingly regularly reported symptom of peri/menopause that you might not know about... "Restless legs can be a common symptom of perimenopause and menopause. Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), is usually characterised by an irresistible urge to move the legs, typically accompanied by uncomfortable sensations. These sensations are often described as crawling, creeping, pulling, or throbbing and are usually worse in the evening or at night when resting. The exact cause of RLS is not fully understood, but several factors are believed to contribute to its development including changes to dopamine levels. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter involved in controlling muscle movement and levels reduce during perimenopause and menopause, when oestrogen levels are also low. Iron is also needed for dopamine production and iron absorption is also affected by low oestrogen levels... This case report highlights how oestrogen in HRT has improved a case of restless legs syndrome too." Here is a link to the full paper: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17905547/ More images in comments

I had it bad at the beginning of menopause. Magnesium really helped me. Now 3 years post menopause I still take the magnesium

@Natalie - I use magnesium glycinate to help with sleep and night sweats. My HRT sorts everything else, but for those niggly things magnesium glycinate has been brill. I'm 54, and also postmenopausal 😊🩷
