Contraception

Hi, so I’ve given birth in March and now thinking about contraception. normally my periods before used to be very heavy and painful. I am thinking of getting the coil, however one of the drawbacks is heavy painful periods. Can anyone advice me on their experience with the coil? Xx

I got the coil last month and I was told if you get the hormone compared to the hormone free it reduces your periods and in a lot of cases they stop completely x

I previously had the coil and worst decision I made! Honestly for me labour was less painful then the pain I was in after and for weeks after. The cramps were so bad. I've gone for the implant this time x

I’ve had the 3 monthly injection. It’s amazing. No side affects so far xx

I've been advised the mirena coil (hormone, IUS) should help with painful/heavy periods but can take a couple of months for things to settle. Avoid copper coil/IUD which is known for making it worse x

Onto my third mirena coil - had no periods with my first two after a couple of months. Hoping for the same this time!
