Birth control after birth

31 weeks pregnant today!!!! And I can’t wait to have my little bundle of joy! 🤰🏽🩷 ANYWAYS, thinking about going back on birth control. Anybody here has been on the paragard? If so, what were your side effects?

Yup, had it for 9 years. I was excited to have a non-hormonal method of birth control, because of the weight gain and other side effects from the hormonal options. Implantation was painful and I bled for 3 months straight with extreme cramping before my uterus stabilized. Upon removal however the top part was embedded in my uterus and broke apart, resulting in surgery for removal, thus resulting in required cesarians for my first and second births. This is unfortunately a common issue with IUDs in general. I’m so done with all types of birth control and how hard they are on the body. We just use condoms now. Lelo is our favorite brand.

I got the mirena after my second kid and love it. I was hoping for the para guard at first because of the no hormones, but doctor talked me out of it because it tends to make heavy periods even heavier. With the mirena I don't get a period at all and having it inserted about 2 months pp it wasn't even painful.

I had the mirena they put it in wrong bleed for over a month I’m now on the pill form I love it

I was on the pill for a very long time until trying Nexplanon. It’s different for everyone but in my case I had it in for a year, 6 months, and 6 days. I know this because I bleed NONSTOP for the entire year, 6 months, and 6 days. I was super tired all the time and tired of constantly buying tamps/pads. I had it removed and two days later I stopped bleeding. I got back in the pill after making sure my cycle was happening regularly for a few months.

I was on copper iud after my son it was kinda painful to get but worked amazing, no side effects and didn’t make my milk supply drop cause it had no hormones.

@Tygre bleed for a whole year!!! Omg that’s so not normal! I hope the doc knew about that…. That’s crazy! Thanks for the info on that, I’ve never heard of that one so that’s good to keep an eye out for!
