Scared for IVF

Hi ladies, really want some advice here because I’m really worried about the IVF process. My husband and I have been TTC for close to six years with no luck. For some background We’ve gone through about 6 cycles of IUI treatment. All the IUI cycles were medicated with the use of letrozole only (2-4 pills), letrozole and clomid or letrozole and 300mg puregon. Even with all of those we’ve never had more than 2 mature follicles. Annoyingly enough I always have 1 mature follicle unmedicated. I ovulate every month and only use the trigger shot if the medication caused the leading follicle to be too large. So my question is, have any of you had a good number of egg collection during IVF after having so few mature when taking so much other medication during the IUI process? I’m worried I’ll never have more than two.

Hi! I did two failed iui’s with clomid. First one I had one follicle and the second I had two. The medication used for iui vs ivf for stimulating your follicles is so very different! I did have 15 eggs retrieved but I encourage you not to compare yourself to others numbers because there’s so many factors to consider with numbers.

Hello girl,I'm same situation, 5 years TTC, I had 4 cycles IUI treatment with Letrozole, and one time trigger shot. Just yesterday we spoke with my doctors and they recommend IVF wit ICSI maybe.... they explain to me the medication for this treatment is different and they need to make some blood test because for every women is different,is depending of the quality of your follicles.

Thank you both for the responses. I guess it’s just to hope for the best.

Just an update. We’ve started the IVF process and my fears about the number of follicles was unfounded. Got word today that 22 of my 24 mature eggs have fertilized (ICSI). These were all produced from one stims cycle with gonal f 300, then 150 in the last two days. I have mild pcos so guessing that was the reason for so many eggs/follicles. So if anyone reading this has the same doubts as me, please keep hope. And I’ll keep hoping this process work for us.
