I agree with Jenn we got my 3 year old one for Xmas but he’s speach delay and doesn’t seem to entertain it very often they are great thing to have but I wouldn’t replace it to actual books. We mainly use ours for my sons bedtime as you can get a sheep and it’s a nightlight plus bedtime sounds if your son is a fan of stories and things I can be good instead of putting the tv on this is what we’ve been using it for and you can get so many different characters for them too plus can get songs or create your own so I think it depends on each child
Same for our 2.5yo she just played with the tonies. Luckily we borrowed ours from our library first so we will wait until she's older to try again. My friend's kids at the same age both love theirs so could be different

I personally wouldn’t recommend it for a 1 year old. We got our daughter one when she turned 2 and I still felt she was too young for it. She was just messing with it constantly and taking the tonies on and off and launching them 😂 it’s only now she’s 3 she gets good use out of it. Saying that though it might be good to have as low background noise to settle him to sleep as they have bedtime story ones and lullabies etc.
