Sterilisation

So I saw my consultant today who is booking my delivery for august when I’m 38weeks, they asked me to think about being sterilised at the same time, it completely took me by surprise tbh, I’d never thought about it before, this will be my third Csection so they don’t advise to have another pregnancy/section after this. I don’t know how I feel about it? Has anyone else been offered this or taken the offer? Is the healing time worse?

I’ve had two and while doing the paperwork before my second c section she asked to make sure nothing else was happening during the surgery. I had wanted my tubes tied since this makes 3 boys. But I didn’t want any possible complications and we aren’t 100 percent sure we don’t want another. My cousin had 4 c sections. We are both in California. My first time was an emergency c section and the recovery was awful. The second time was LARGE twins and planned c section. Easy recovery. I’m definitely opting for a c section if I try again for a girl. Sorry it’s not more help.

Oh I would Inna heartbeat if I was being opened anyway. But looks like I'm having vaginal birth and it's already underway just v slow. These are just our own opinions just remember x

I would if I was having a C-section and it was possible I would. I only have one child though and I wouldn't want more than two so that's why 8 would. My SIL had 2 planned C-sections and she had her tubes tied after the second while she was still open from the C-section. They only wanted 2 and ended up with twins the second time. I had a vaginal birth so we opted for my husband to get a vasectomy if I didn't get pregnant in the three years after. It is a minimally invasive procedure for them and it's outpatient.

Heya Hayley, If you’re in any doubt as to whether you want it done, or whether you might like to conceive again in later life, you could always look at other less final birth control options. I believe a vasectomy is a fairly simple procedure and can be reversed with success in conception (if the reversal hasn’t been left too many years), so maybe your OH could take the hit on this one? Best of luck with your delivery and congrats on your pending arrival! ✨

Thanks for the advice ladies, I’m thinking that I don’t want any more babies especially with the risks of a 4th section but I don’t think I want the choice taken away in case I had a change of heart in a few years xx

I've heard of women having 4 or more c sections. Not sure how many is recommended..

I've been sterilised at last c section. Made total sense to me as I'm done with having more kids. I've got 6.. I will say if your a hormonal person it does help with that. I am much calmer person now I've had it done. I have an odd blip when I'm on but other than that it's helped me 10 fold.
