@ℒ𝒾𝓋 I wasn't married to her dad so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
@Kayla honestly I don't think so. My ex is on my daughter's birth certificate and my fiance is adopting her after we get married. So far, we've been told the adoption process could take up to six months to a year. If you have all your ducks in a row, ie. your paperwork, birth certificate, marriage certificate, and name change. These are the forms we are using. So far this is varying by both county and state. We are from. Florida so we are checking with both states for the process for both sides.
@ℒ𝒾𝓋 I'm wondering if I just need to get ahold of my lawyer that handled the OP and visitation back in 2016. Because I don't even know where her dad is. I had her last name legally changed to mine in 2019 and just had to put an article in the newspaper for 2 weeks.
Yea, I'm going for a publication waiver, we just want to get this done with. I would start there and ask questions. Nine times outta ten, they're familiar with cases like this. I don't have a lawyer, yet.
I'm actually going through this myself. We are getting married in June but we've been together since my daughter was one. I was also married and had to be divorced. The divorce was finalized last year. If you'd like to chat we can.
