Will antibiotics unclog mastitis blockage?

My breastfeeding consultant said that hot showers/hot compress actually can make it worse as it causes further inflammation. It's better to use cold compress apparently so that might be worth a shot x
Antibiotics helped my mastitis (it had been getting worse over about 3 days). The fevers and aches cleared up very quickly, the blockage took a bit longer to go completely. Would highly recommend speaking to your GP, hope you feel better soon x
@Sophie did the antibiotics clear the blockage or did you have to unclog it yourself with massage etc? Wish I’d asked the doctor yesterday now but when I was there I felt so ill I just wanted to get home asap!
I didn't do anything special really except make sure I breastfed regularly for at least 20mins when on the affected side (and I'd also offer it after she fed on the other side), plus some gentle breast compressions with my hand while my LG was feeding. I also varied the position I had her in with some rugby ball and koala mixed in to the usual cradle/cross-cradle!
Antibiotics only clear up infections x
