Best contraception

Hi Ladies, I’m looking for the best contraception. One that doesn’t have a huge effect on fertility long term. I already have two children, aged 3 and 2 and would like another but our situation is just not the right time for different factors so I still want a chance in the future to have another. I know there are pros and cons to every type and what works for one of will not necessarily work for another but I just want as much information as I can get before I go to the doctor. What does everyone recommend? Thank you in advance :)

I think it really is trial and error with what works for you! I was on the contraceptive pill for over 10 years with minimal side effects and I fell pregnant within days of coming off it - but there’s plenty of people who will tell you the pill ruined their cycles, bad side effects etc xx

@Aimee I’ve had the injection in the past and willing to try again but I’ve heard that can really mess with fertility and I already have endometriosis so I’m worried it will affect it more x

I have the coil and works good for me x

Yeah this is why I say everyone is different, I know people who had zero effects and I also know people who it’s taken them a while to conceive, so as any medication varies from person to person x The only thing that isn’t hormonal based, which may work (I cannot personally speak for it) but the copper coil is one to look into xx

I had the mirena coil before falling pregnant and liked the fact that the hormones were more localised. Can take a while to settle but is effective for 5 years and easily removed when you want to try again x

I’ve had the coil twice and had it have it removed as it became dislodged. I have a tilted cervix and can increase risks with placement. But I really liked it for the short period of time that I had them.

I had the implant lasts 3 years max

Cervical cap, iud , pill

I was on the progesterone only pill and it really worked for me. But I have a midwife friend who would only recommend the coil.

I had the implant/rod in my arm lasts 3-4 years but you can have it taken out at any time you want did me really well tho did take about 2 ish years after taking it out for me to get pregnant but that may ne dew to howl long I was using it as I did from 16 until 24-25 I'd suggest just talking with ur doctor and asking them what options there are for you and for some info on the pros and cons for each option like some leaflets or something to read so you know you're full options and how when or how little they may work for you and ask how each type could effect ur endometriosis hope you find the right one for u and it works well for you x
