Thyroid function

I've just had my results back for thyroid function. My tsh levels are high at 5.5 (last year were 1.76). All other levels were normal. If anyone else has had similar results how did this affect your ivf treatment and what did you do to lower your levels?

Mines was 1 away from being in the perfect range for treatment and my doc prescribed medicine to take for 30 days to help lower the level

They will get you started on levothyroxine. They prefer for TSH to be below 2.5 for IVF. My levels were 3.5 - now 1.3 from being on levothyroxine for the last 5 months. They want me to get blood drawn every 6 weeks so they can make sure the level is within normal limits. Having a TSH level that is too high could potentially delay the start date of IVF, it comes with risk of miscarriages.

Mine was corrected with medication. My dosage had to be changed a few times to get it to where the ivf clinic wanted, but the meds work quick :)

They will get your started on meds before proceeding. Pregnancy will further raise your level so they prefer it’s under a 2 before transfer. A level above a 4.5 will put you at an increased miscarriage risk

Levothyroxine. My clinic wouldn’t have let me go ahead with treatment with anything above 2.

Thank you everyone. I'm picking my prescription up at the weekend. Continuing with stims as planned but holding off on transfer until my levels are much lower

I’ve been on medication for a little over a year now. When doing our retrieval and second transfer, my doctor was hyper vigilant on testing my tsh levels and increasing medication to keep it level. Even at 7 weeks pregnant, we are still keeping tabs on it and adjusting medication.
