Ive had two, one came out, and the other one got removed when I was 8w pregnant

@Brooke do you know which one you had? Did you experience any side effects

@Brielle I had the mirana when I got pregnant, I still had a period, it was just light and VERY irregular. I gained about 35lbs between insertion and when I got pregnant, with the kyrena I still had regular heavy periods and gained like 40lbs before it fell out lol

@Brooke oh wow!! Those are some of the stories I’m hearing and it gives me hesitation.

@Brielle my sister has a copper, she's had it for 9 years with 0 issues! She still has her period but it's like 3 days and super light ❤️ and she hasn't really gained weight

@Brooke I’ve heard the copper IUD has longer and heavier periods?

I had the Mirena for just over 2 years and never had any issues. I also didn't have a period for that time, which was great.

I had the mirena for about 4 years never any major complications! I will say I gained weight with it but I was told that could’ve been environmental factors too so I wouldn’t solely blame that for my weight gain but I loved it overall! The only thing I had issues with was removal as I had to have a hysteroscopy to remove it since my GYN couldn’t find the strings

I have and ended up pregnant while on iud

The second one I got inserted was put in wrong and it hurt. Ended up getting pregnant with it in. When they removed it came out with chunks of cervical tissue. Moral of the story make sure a doctor is doing it that has done it before, not just a random nurse practitioner. And listen to your body!! It's not supposed to cause pain

I had one for a year and a half. I had so many problems that it wasn’t worth it anymore. And the pain getting it put in was unbearable. But that was before i had my daughter

Before I knew the downs of IUD I had one and took it out 6 months later. It was causing bacterial build up in there. Now that I work in the OR I have seen many women come in and have to undergo surgery to take out the IUD. Sometimes the IUD can literally travel deep inside the body and they have to go in and find it. I have heard many times inside the OR that they should be illegal. Some people have no trouble but it’s good to know there are also serious things that can go wrong.

I didn't have any issues and just gotten it taken out bc time expired and even that was a breeze

Had mine for 5 years

@Carley do you know which one you had?

@Brielle Mirena. While having it I had small spotting here and there. It never bother me but I know each situation is different. After getting it out my first cycle was longer than normal, second cycle felt normal
