Still no period

I’m about 14 weeks pp and still haven’t had a period. I’m not breastfeeding and haven’t been for about 12 weeks. My healthcare provider said they can’t give me birth control until I start a period and I can’t be back on adderall for my ADHD until i’m on birth control, so i’m desperately waiting to have one. When did your period come back and is there anything i can do? should i be concerned?

I’m 16 weeks pp and haven’t had a period yet, but I’m combo feeding. Hmm I’d say just wait. Unless you’ve been sexually active, I would just take a pregnancy test to rule that out.

@Jasmine F i did take a test about three days ago and another the next day to make sure, and they were both negative

Why can't you be on BC for no period yet? I am breastfeeding but I was combo feeding before so she could gain the needed weight being early.. my midwife put be on BC as soon as I asked at 6 weeks PP

Unless there is a specific reason that you cannot be on BC until you have a period, there is not a scientific reason you can’t take it before your period comes back. I’m 12 weeks pp and I started the “mini pill” a month ago. As far as your Adderall, it’s the same situation. As long as you don’t have a reason why you specifically cannot start it back up until you have a period, there shouldn’t be a reason why. (I’m a pharmacy technician)

@Savannah that's what I was thinking. I started my BC at 6 week PP cuz I wanted yo be safe when I was up for having sex again. Is there any reason to be told you can't go on it? I'm breastfeeding so I'm required to be on low progesterone only due to this but other then that I never knew of any reason to be told BC isn't allowed

@Shelby @Savannah i should’ve specified that I’ve had issues with other forms of BC in the past so I am trying to get an IUD, which i was told has to be inserted at the end of my period. The main thing i’m trying to get back is the adderall. My healthcare provider told me she legally can’t prescribe it unless i’m on BC (she’s a nurse practitioner) i thought it sounded weird when she told me. i’m in texas but i haven’t found anything while looking online to confirm that that’s true.

@Daegan That makes more sense. I didn't know that about the iud. I'm sorry you're going rounds with all this

Im like 16 weeks pp i got my period a week ago. I been on birth control literally 2 days after i had babyboy. Stopped breastfeeding at 10 weeks pp. It just depends on your body I heard some women dont get it until a year after pp

Try asking another ob lol bc ive been on birth control since before me and babyboy left the hospital

I previously had the IUD and am about to get it again. I was never told that it needs to be inserted at the end of my period. I would have never been able to go on it in the first place if that was the case because my periods are so irregular. When I get it this time I will be 18 weeks pp, currently 15 weeks with no period. I'm currently on the pill so I'll be switching birth controls. I would definitely talk with another provider to see if they tell you the same.

What about the implant? I got that right at 6 weeks pp. I hadn't had a period before then.

@Samantha the arm implant is unfortunately one of the BC methods i’ve used previously that i do not like and do not want to try again

@Daegan oh I understand!

@Shelby there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to be on it! 😊 I’m on a low progesterone pill, called Norethindrone (or the Mini Pill) I’m 3 months pp and it’s safe for breastfeeding too!

@Daegan that’s strange! I learned something new. I had no idea about that!
