Nexplanon

Have any of you mammas gotten Nexplanon? It’s now available at my home clinic and I was thinking of getting it rather then going back on NuvaRing. I liked NuvaRing cause 1) there was the 1 week off and I still got a period AND it was only a light 3 day period. 2) I didn’t have to do anything daily just monthly. But I don’t mind doing pregnancy tests once a month or if I feel off if I were to get Nexplanon but at the same time it’s different for everyone. Apparently it can make your period shorter, longer, or stop it all together. Kinda scared to get an implant in my arm.. but at the same time can’t be scarier than getting an IUD inserted 3x in one month right? 😅 Just scared of doing a contraceptive that has user error cuz life and now a 1yr old ya know? We both wanna get pregnant on purpose next time and have fun with it. Plus we want a permanent house 1st rather than another high priced rental.. ya know?

I had the nuvaring for years. Then I went and got Nexoplanon in 2021 after I had my daughter. I won’t complain about it, it was just uncomfortable at first but they numb the area before they insert it. I will say that I don’t regret getting this birth control though because now you don’t really have to worry about it once it’s there. Just think about removing it in 3 years.

I had nexplanon and it was terrible. I bled for over 60 days straight, I had so much hair fall out I needed to go to a specialist to see if it would come back. The worst moodswings of my life and if you are active, I jammed it a few times lifting things and it HURTS. I encourage anyone considering it to look up videos of women's expiriance with it on tiktok or insta. I am not unique

I got the Nexplanon insert 3 months postpartum. It bruised decently after but was so much tamer than getting in IUD. Fast forward to my first period at 11 months pp and it lasted for 8 weeks!!! I had to start taking oral birth control (Lolo) to get the period to stop and now I still have to take that to continue having no period. If I miss a pill I will spot a couple days later which is so annoying. But as far as actual birth control I assume it's doing its job. I used to get the depo shots and loved those but we were trying to avoid the weight gain that happened when I started the shots years ago.

I got nexplanon after my daughter in October. I don't hate it. I chose it because my insurance wouldn't cover my preference plus breastfeeding. I'm neutral.

I have nexplanon. It was put in several months after having my daughter. It was the best option for me. Few risks compared to other forms of birthcontrol. Little to no decreas in milk supply. Good for a couple years at least. I haven't had my period since I got it put in but I'm okay with that. It took a while to get comfortable with it being in my arm. For the first couple weeks if I touched it with my fingers I would get nauseous from being able to feel it, but that passed. I have a small scar like the one people used to get from smallpox vaccines. Healing from the insertion was the only disadvantage for me. Lots of bruising. And it itches a little on and off for the first few weeks.

I was also on the nuva ring pre-pregnancy and loved it but I chose nexplanon post partum when nuve ring wasn’t an option for breastfeeding. The insertion was far less painful than an IUD. Like others have mentioned, the most common side effect is irregular bleeding. I typically get my regular period for about 3 days but then have light spotting/bleeding for 3-4 weeks. It’s definitely a whacky cycle but not having to think about BC is a bonus

@Brittany Ooof, the “jamming it” made me cringe for you.. that doesn’t seem pleasant 😣 @Sharaya @Kelti See the possibility of irregular bleeding, that’s what scares me the most! But the taking double bc to stop the bleeding from being irregular? That’s a scary possibility as well. I don’t wanna take bc let alone 2 different ones.. 🤣🙈 But you gotta do what you gotta do ya know? Idk.. there’s more bad reviews then good ones in this comment section haha. Everyone is different though which makes this such a hard decision! I’m gonna look at video reviews like @Brittany suggested! Thank you all for your time!
