Large Fibroid before TTC

Hi ladies! I have a 12cm fibroid on the outside of my uterus in the back, plus multiple fibroids located in the subserosal and intramural tissues. (All outside of the uterus). I don't have any heavy bleeding or much pain, and the large fibroid shows signs of dying. My obgyn just referred me to "infertility specialists" to talk to about how it might impact pregnancy. My bf and I are planning to start TTC this summer. I understand that fibroids tend to grow during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, and can be quite painful. I'd really love to hear from you how you dealt with fibroids through your pregnancy and TTC journey. Did you try to shrink your fibroids first? Anyone try taking Lupron or Depoprovera to shrink them? Choose embolisation or a myomectomy?

@Suwilanji That is wonderful! Congratulations!! Wishing you a blissful pregnancy and easy birth. 🙏🏽 Did you do anything specific to prepare your body for pregnancy before conceiving?

Hello, I found out I had fibroids when I was trying for a baby. I had a Myomectomy (through the vagina) to remove two that were in the lining and so most problematic. It was straight forward op, day surgery, took 1-2 days to recover. Got pregnant a couple of months afterwards. BUT other smaller fibroids have grown in 1st trimester and I’m now in a lot of pain. Taking painkillers, but not sure much else that can be done. Although not had Consultant appointment yet (which is v annoying). Baby seems ok, but pain may continue all 9 months (it’s not great).

@Suwilanji congratulations! May I ask, did your dr say how your fibroid may prevent you from getting pregnant since it’s out of the uterus?

I had a fibroid surgically removed before finally getting pregnant the following cycle. It was also our 5th round of IUI and I was upped to 100mg of clomid.

@Amy hi Amy can i send you a message?

@Sarah sure
